If Trump Is Indicted, It Will Not Be For His Crimes, But For Those Of The Democrat Party.
The Democrat Party long ago discarded the Rule of Law, but prosecuting Trump takes them into fascist territory.
The “news” broke recently that Trump may be indicted this Tuesday in New York by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg over a hush money operation relating to a payment to pornstar Stormy Daniels. This “investigation” is one of many that partisan Democrat prosecutors have been engaging in and likely is the weakest, which is saying something.
After all, the supposed election related crime was passed over by the Federal government, Bragg’s predecessor, and had received very negative assessments from Bragg’s himself, which prompted two top prosecutors assigned to the case to resign in protest. Moreover, the Federal Election Commission has stated publicly that payments in exchange for silence made by those seeking office might not be morally proper, but they are not illegal. There plainly is no crime here, but anyone paying even the slightest attention realizes that prosecuting “crime” is not what these “investigations” are about.
For Democrats, these “investigations” are about many things. Among other things, they are very popular among the Elite Press and thus earn the prosecutor fame. With fame undoubtedly comes increased political donations, which feed, among many other things, the political prosecutor’s ability to seek higher office and enrich his or her friends through “campaign” spending. Unless one is moored by conscience, every incentive exists for prosecutors in Democrat districts to attempt to fabricate crimes and “investigate” Trump.
As we know, this has been occurring for years and, to date, no crime has been proven. With the leak of Bragg’s supposed pending indictment, it appears that the scheme is changing. Before we get to that, let us revisit how this nefarious political strategy got us to this point.
From the moment he hit the political scene, those on the Left have attempted to smear Trump as a supposed criminal. Those efforts were accelerated after he unexpectedly won the 2016 President Election against one of the most preferred, yet simultaneously awful Presidential candidates in history. No crime was ever revealed, but more and more citizens were fed a steady diet of stories proclaiming Trump a criminal. As the number of people believing Trump was a criminal grew, and with no pushback from the Elite Media, eventually some enterprising and partisan political prosecutors saw a mechanism to benefit politically as described above.
We have written about these hyper partisan “investigations” in the past and demonstrated that none passes an objective examination. For example, Trump did not commit a crime on January 6 because “incitement” under the Constitution requires both that the speaker’s words be directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and be likely to incite or produce such action. Trump asking his supporters to march to the Capitol and “peacefully and patriotically” protest plainly does not meet the Supreme Court’s incitement standard.
Similarly, as we have explained in greater detail before, challenging Biden’s certification in the Electoral College is not a crime. Among other things, you cannot break the law by following the law set up for challenging Electoral votes from various States. Proof of that fact arises from the fact that Democrats made the exact same challenges in 2004 and 2016 and no one was prosecuted and, just as importantly, no one suggestion anyone was trying to “undo” or “overturn” an election. Despite January 6 obviously not being a crime, partisan Democrat prosecutors and even judges have claimed crimes were committed, all without evidence but to benefit politically. Indeed, we have written in the past the obvious proof exists that January 6 was not an insurrection because the last person who wanted violence was Trump.
Similarly, Fulton County District Attorney Fanni Willis’ “investigation” into Trump attempting to “find” votes is just as baseless. Anyone who has listened to the call understands that by “find,” Trump did not mean manufacture illegally. Just as importantly, evidence that he did not intend anything illegal with the call comes from the fact that he made the call with numerous high level witnesses on the line and knowing that it was being recorded.
Until now, political prosecutors like Willis have been engaging in improper conduct, but they had not ventured into outright fascism because no one has actually attempted to take away Trump’s rights and freedom by actually falsely prosecuting him. That appears to have changed.
If Bragg proceeds as leaked, all that changes. It is one thing to benefit politically by misusing your prosecutorial office to harass citizens. It is quite another to actually initiate a prosecution under false pretenses. Once that bridge is crossed, partisan prosecutors will not simply be benefitting personally and financially by misusing their offices, but they also will be harming ordinary citizens as well, all without any supposed legal basis. There is no other way to view this than the fascism it is.
It would be sad to see the Democrat Party cross this bridge and descend into the outright prosecution of American citizens that disagree with them politically. That is precisely what this is if Bragg indicts Trump.
Unfortunately for the Democrat Party and America, the leak produced the typical echo chamber on the Left extolling the supposed virtues on prosecuting Trump for non-existent crimes. This likely comes from the fact that the Elite Media’s lone source of revenue these days is from manufacturing negative narratives about Trump. However, the overwhelming effect has been to encourage Bragg to disregard America’s cherished devotion to the Rule of Law. For example, Democrat influencers rushed to do what they do, which is gas light their followers not with facts, but propaganda:
One would think the evidence of taking the unprecedented step of prosecuting a former President, one would have more support than Trump is being prosecuted “because he is a criminal.” Not surprisingly, that Tweet says more about the state of mind of the Party—it is just fine with labelling citizens “criminals” and then using that label as the justification for a criminal prosecution.
But these weak arguments are everywhere on the Left after the announcement. By way of another example, Jennifer Rubin went on MSNBC to suggest that this is only the beginning because Trump is only being indicted for “lesser crimes:”
In other words, now that someone is prepared to cross the line no American prosecutor ever has, we need to accelerate the scheme and go after other non-existent ones. Make no mistake, they do not just mean Trump—it only starts with him.
In light of the fact that Bragg has faced no pushback from the Left, but has been encouraged to take the unprecedented step of prosecuting a former President on purely partisan grounds, he likely will. If he does, it will say more about the Democrat Party’s criminality than Trump’s. Sadly, this is America in 2023.
