On A Mission From God And Undebunkable!
Washington Post propagandist Philip Bump believes if you do not agree with him, you cannot be listening.
Recently, a feud broke out between Washington Post “columnist” Philip Bump and legal analyst Jonathan Turley. In an August 29, 2023 article in The Hill, Turley alleged that Bump has been responsible for amplifying many hoaxes, including the one concerning Trump’s now supposedly infamous call to Georgia election officials to “find” votes.
In an unusual move, the Washington Post took the extraordinary step of addressing an e-mail to Turley. It read:
Dear Jonathan,
In your recent piece in The Hill, you wrote that “Bump has repeatedly spread false stories and then refused to accept the falsity of his own earlier claims, even after most of the media have admitted the errors.”
The Washington Post stands by Philip Bump’s reporting and your characterization of his articles as “false” is incorrect.
A rag defending its plainly biased and irresponsible reporters is nothing unusually or unexpected, but unfortunately for both Bump and the Post, in this instance, their high mindedness occurred during some of the worst timing in human history. Around the time the Post was in the process of attempting to defend their supposed “journalist,” Bump made the mistake of appearing on a Democrat leaning podcast and, not only melting down, but making several statements revealing not simply his incredible bias, but demonstrating his utter inability to comprehend the basics of communication and rationality.
It is worth listening to the entire interview, but near the end is where Bump reveals just how awful modern “journalism” has become. The podcast likely could have been about any topic and the same information would have been unearthed, but this particular one was about the Biden Crime Machine, specifically the supposed lack of a connection between Hunter and the President.
Among the nuggets that prove beyond any reasonable doubt that Bump is incapable of performing the actual functions of journalist are an exchange between him and the podcast host, Noam Dworman:
Bump: “Because you don’t listen to the press. I’m sitting here and I’m telling you, you’re wrong about these things, and you don’t listen, and you continue to insist upon things that are, you know, parsing of language. And it’s just, it’s this is why I keep saying it’s silly.” [Bump then claims that he is leaving].
Dworman responded “Well, it’s a shame because this is a good conversation.”
Bump: “It’s not a good conversation, because you refuse to listen to what I’m saying to you. You asked me on to present evidence. I keep telling you.”
This should be enough to dissuade anyone from further believing Bump on any topic, much less ones containing a scintilla of controversy or subjectively. To Bump’s understanding, you are not listening if you do not believe what he is telling you. Moreover, you are not to “parse” his language or otherwise evaluate what you have been told. However, to my mind an exchange that occurred later was far more revealing . . . and fatal.
Later in the “conversation,” Dworman seeks refer to independent journalist Matt Taibbi. Bump flatly rejects any consideration of Taibbi because he has an “agenda.” Setting aside that the notion that one should ignore any information, being permitted to do so based on subjective labelling barely surpasses a child’s smell test. It did not get past Dworman’s censors, as he responded thusly:
Dworman: “You have no agenda.”
Bump: “I do have an agenda . . . My agenda is to do my best to try and present accurate information to the public. And I have an institution behind me to hold me to account when I don’t do that, which I think is an important consideration.”
And there you have it. Bump is on a mission from God. And God, to Bump’s mind, the Washington Post, alone is permitted to disagree and/or challenge him. Perhaps it is only permitted to not believe. Perhaps they have not worked out the specifics. None of this is of any moment—you are be advised that your place is to believe what you are told.
One is left to wonder how we are to have “democracy,” or even “elections” when we are not permitted to form our own opinions or question what we are told. Perhaps this too is left to be determined by the Bumps and Washington Posts of the world. Details; no doubt they will see to it when it suits them. In the meantime, be mindful of your place and believe what you are told.
