America's Greatest Threat.
Biden document scandal reveals yet again that our greatest threat is not a foreign entity or an entity at all.
Unless you have been sleeping under a rock, by now you have heard that President Biden apparently is guilty of the very serious non-crime that Trump is accused of, mishandling classified government documents. Below, I will explain what I believe actually is going on. Before turning to that, what the “breaking news” and “bombshell story” reveal is something much more significant—America’s greatest threat.
The greatest threat we face is that we have no longer have a functioning press. Put another way, we no longer have a publicly available system to deliver facts and information about our government (and culture, etc.) to our citizenry so that we can make informed decisions. We have replaced that system, imperfect as it was, but existent, with a narrative machine and feedback loop that fabricates an alternative reality. This alone would be dangerous, but when that system is controlled by one political party, it necessarily leads to an end to Constitutional self government in any form. The Biden document “story” and other recent events reveal how dangerous this system is.
The Biden document scandal “story” is Exhibit A of our broken press system. At the outset, we were provided little factual information, but instead force fed a steady diet of how Biden’s document possession and handling were different from Trump, as if crime is a comparative art. As of this writing, no reporting has detailed the law supposedly broken or the elements of the supposed crime, or other details necessary to appreciate if a crime has been committed.
Instead, the “news” for the last 24 hours has focused on the Trump comparison. The choice to focus on the comparison has revealed the broken system. Any rational, fact based reporting would have to admit that while the actions of both men by definition must be distinct, the central issue is whether possessing classified government documents when you are no longer in office is criminal. By so doing, the fact based rational system would force the Justice Department to either prosecute Trump and Biden, or neither.
But this is not what has occurred. Instead, our journalistic betters have spent all of their energy trying to convince us that one is criminal while the other is not. When the application of our laws (or anything having to do with our government for that matter) depends solely on manufacturing an alternate reality to benefit one political party, as compared to the equal interpretation of facts, people cannot self govern because they are all but forced to make decisions based on false data and worse, false data designed to leads them to a result that benefits the elites that control the very communication system that failed to inform them of the facts. This is a daily occurrence in America.
It has led to, among other dangerous things, a political ecosystem that prevents the public from correcting the improper actors, whether they be politicians or persons that call themselves journalists. The Trump confidential document story is a perfect example. When it was learned that Biden, like probably every other high ranking former government official that left office, took with him some confidential government documents, the public should have learned that what Trump has been accused of is not something that is, at a minimum, unusual or something that typically is prosecuted. But our narrative system did not report the facts. Instead, it reported a narrative that sought to convince the public of an alternative reality, one where Trump has done something unusual but Biden had not.
In turn, Democrat politicians have learned to play this system to cease having to deliver actual concrete policy results for their constituents and instead feed the so-called journalists narratives. Another clear example of this was the recent “story” that Democrat Representatives Ritchie Torres and Dan Goldman had “hand delivered” a copy of their “ethics” complaint with the House Ethics Committee to Republican Representative George Santos when he was in his office:
This is not news, but theater—you do not need to be an attorney to know that a Congressional “ethics” complaint is not required to be delivered in person to a Representative while he or she is in his or her office. Yes, here is supposed “journalist” Lalee Ibssa of ABC News promoting the “story” of the hand delivery of the complaint. She is not alone as camera crews from multiple other “news” outlets are clear to see in the video. The “news,” if there is any, is that two Democrats have decided to file an “ethics” complaint against a fellow Republican Representative. Along those lines, an article about the basis of the complaint and its merits might be in order. Perhaps a history of such complaints and maybe an overview of the process. Instead, ABC and Ms. Ibssa (as well as the rest of the Media) believe the “news” is that two Democrats decided to confront their opposition in person over alleged “ethics” violations.
One wonders how a rational person believes that it is news that politicians might attack their political opponents. In any event, to be sure, if the mere charge itself is news and, just as importantly, the more flamboyantly you advance the claim is “news,” you plainly will get more of it. This, of course, is what is happening as can be verified by watching or reading even a few minutes of news coverage on any given day.
To some extent, this system has existed since our founding. What has changed in recent years is that only Democrat politicians are permitted to play this game on “Mainstream” or “traditional” outlets. Example abound, but among many is the fact that Mainstream outlets have refused to report on the Twitter Files. In light of this fact, the system is decidedly tilted to encourage Democrats not to focus on policy or deliver verifiable results to their voters, but to engage in performance and narrative theater. Politicians not governing, but performing, is bad enough, but if they can do so without delivering any results for voters other than performance art, your Country cannot long be sustained. If the 2022 Midterms taught us anything, we either are close to having passed or passed the point where Democrats can obtain and stay in power not by producing results, but by acting and producing narratives. Let us hope it is the former.
Which leads us back to the question raised earlier, which is why the “story” is breaking now. The most likely theory is that it is a signal that Trump soon will be charged for possessing classified documents and the Democrats who will prosecute him are looking to create cover that Trump is not being singled out. As with most of the “narrative news,” it does not stand up to rational analysis, but, as discussed above, this it is not intended to. As always, time will tell.
